Some things I am always asked:
How and where do I find bones?
How to clean them?
Is bleach okay?
I have answers, worry not! <3
+ places to find bones +
- rivers, lakes, and bodies of water
- animals are often found near streams - it's usually considered a mutual "safe space" because everyone needs water
- empty fields
- lots of grazing animals, uncollected kill, or just meadow animals that finally let go
- forests/woods
- this one explains itself
- train tracks
- don't look along common paths, go off road and/or follow animal tracks
+ cleaning and repairing +
-
DO NOT use bleach
- it will degrade the bones and overtime they will fall apart
- hydrogen peroxide and dawn dish soap are your best friends
- hydrogen peroxide will whiten
- dawn dish soap (with water ) will degrease. Make sure you fully degrease your bones otherwise they will become gross overtime
- I suggest wearing a mask and gloves - safety first but also it can be stinky
+ helpful hints +
- you can glue teeth back into skulls, no one will know ;)
- check with your local game warden about certain animals!!
Above all, ALWAYS do your research! <3
